Beautiful hacienda "El Retiro de Carpizo"

The hacienda is located 6 km east of San Dimas, nearby the coastal town of Champoton in the state of Campeche.

It has a density of 850 ha. with more than 40 stone houses, and several large stone buildings, with three main parallel avenues in a grid like layout of a small town, near by an active railway line and an old train station.

This hacienda was abandoned in the early 20´s and since then a dense vegetation has taken the property and its buildings, nevertheless, most of the 40 plus structures maintain their facades largely intact. There´s a deep well that was impressively carved into the rock solid foundation by hand, and shows the chisel marks all the way down its 20 plus meter depth.

This old  hacienda is near the major project from Grupo Mall (Campecheplaya) in the Campeche state, that includes a Jack Nicklaus signature golf club, resorts, condos and residencial development and a private airport, that gives you the opportunity to be part of all the side projects that start offering to the international community coming to this area.
